About Us
Learn more about our parish community
Nativity of the Mother of God
Operating as a mission parish on the northern part of Vancouver Island, this community provides vital liturgical access to the faithful in the Comox Valley. Though smaller in size, the parish is characterized by deep personal bonds among its members and a commitment to maintaining Ukrainian traditions. It works in close coordination with the Nanaimo parish to ensure the Byzantine rite remains accessible to island residents.
Rev. Stepan Vytvytskyi
Father Stepan is the pastor of St. Michael the Archangel in Nanaimo and the Nativity of the Mother of God in Courtenay, and he also serves as the Eparchial Communications Director. He manages the eparchy’s digital presence and news outreach while providing regular liturgical services to the faithful on Vancouver Island. His dual role allows him to bridge the gap between traditional pastoral work and modern communications technology.
